Which Monitor for Gaming?

Hello, I've been doing some searching for a new monitor. Not necessarily for PC gaming, but rather for console gaming. I currently own an Xbox 360 and plan to get an Xbox 1 if Titanfall and other games prove to impress. I currently game on a 32 inch LCD 720p LG television, and feel like I need to move to a monitor. I've been reading and watching videos and have come across two that I like a lot:

1. The ASUS VG248QE
I keep reading amazing things about this monitor. It's at the price range that I'm expecting to spend, and I believe it would be the best performer... but my worry is image quality. I'm not entirely worried about the 144 Hz because I'll be on console. Mainly playing Call of Duty or other FPS games.

2. The ASUS MX279H
This thing is beautiful in my opinion, which means a lot to me, but is it worth the difference? Will I REALLY notice a difference with input lag on a 360 or X1? With this being an IPS monitor will it really look a lot better in terms of image quality and color? I would like to note that I do some photoshop work sometimes for quick money while I'm in college, so image quality is a pretty big deal for me too. If the image is nice enough, I could see myself using this as an extra monitor for my Retina Macbook Pro as well.

I just really need an opinion on this specific question because I can't seem to find anyone else asking it, haha. Thank you in advance. If you have any other recommendations, I'm open to suggestions.

I am hoping to purchase within the next couple of days, but your opinion is what will help me make my decision.

Thanks again,

Jacob

You'll not notice any input lag since controllers mask it, and since no console can output more than 60Hz you are wasting your time with the 144Hz displays, they will be worse in your case as the colours are complete crap. Get the IPS.

so you're saying that controllers mask the input lag, so even on a television the input lag will be masked? so I would rather worry about the response time? I am leaning towards the IPS for better picture, but I just wanted to make sure.
