Sup, I just replaced my Mobo/CPU , and my HDD [4TB] , only 1.95TB is being recognized.

My OS is Win 7, and when I originally put it into my rig all of it was recognized however now it doesn't seem to pick up on the full 4tb. I've been messing around with SeaTools/Seagate programs to see what was up, however nothing seems to be working.

All that been said, and as far as I've read it is a problem with the OS, does anyone carry any suggestions as to what to do? Thank you, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

What does the drive show as in BIOS?

The drive, in BIOS, is showing 3.8TB which is ballpark. My previous rig, or atleast when I put in said HDD, it automatically recognized its full capacity however it is not this time around.

That is very strange... Check under disk management.

Start>Computer>Right Click> Manage> Storage> Disk Manager

It should show the drive. Is the FULL capacity shown as a volume?
There should be a blue bar representing the volume.

If you right click on the volume it should say "Extend volume" and you can adjust its size.

It's showing, below the disc identifier (or disc 0) as 3.7TB, however to the right of it, it's showing 2.047TB being used where as 1.6 is being unallocated.

GREAT! Now click on the used portion, right click and click Extend volume. That should give the option to increase the size.

When I try to extend it, an error message pops up saying "Only the first 2TB are usable on large MBR disks. Cannot create partitions beyond the 2TB mark, nor convert the disk to dynamic"

Alright, then you can click the unused portion, right click, then create a new volume. So, you will now have 2 volumes of 2TB each. There is a way to create 1 4TB volume but it is very complex. Try googling: "Only the first 2TB are usable on large MBR disks. Cannot create partitions beyond the 2TB mark, nor convert the disk to dynamic"

That should help.

But, the best short term fix to get all 4TB is to have 2 seperate volumes. So, once again right click on unused portion and make a new volume.
