I am planning on installing one of either the H50 or H55 from Corsair. I have two main questions:
1. What are the exact differences?
2. Is it possible to mount the fan outside of the case in the rear where the stock is, and move the stock fan to another place? (the case is the Thermaltake V3 Black Edition)

1. H55 fits AMD. H50 doesn't.

2. Yes. The fans on my H100i are outside pulling air through the inside mounted radiator.

Better remember to tell my rig... Asus Crosshair Formula V with AMD Phenom II 1100T X6 CPU... Cooled by a Corsair H50 for the past 3 years... But I better remember to tell it that it isn't possible!

Zombie thread arise!

Vendors often change what brackets are included with their equipment over time, and make minor revisions for cost savings or design improvements. According to the information they have posted now, it isn't supported.

I tend to disagree, check tech specs:

http://www.corsair.com/en-us/hydro-series-h50-cpu-cooler

However, I noticed that if you choose Scandinavia as location, there is no mention of AMD socket support. But since I live in Scandinavia and have one which I bought here... That seems odd... But, of course, they could have changed it...

Anyway, the pricetag difference between the various cooler isn't that much anyway... So it is a problem that is easily solved...
