hello all, i just upgraded my pc from a stock tri-core amd athlon II 435 2.9Ghz 95w to an Phenom II X4 955 BE chip 3.2Ghz stock. the Vcore according to CoreTemp shows at around 1.4V as well as the bios at around 1.392V or so. mind you please, this system is mostly stock for Mobo so voltages and such settings are unavailable and locked/not included in this specific mobo. i do plan on upgrading further in the future. as of right now ive re applied thermal paste many times over hoping the best out of trial and error. a small bead sized drop in the center of the cpu seemed to be the best sweet spot but have noticed minimal cooling improvements if any. my pc at idle via BIOS states anywhere from 49-57C and at idle on windows sits in the low 110's to mid 130's typically around 125F and under full load on prime hit as high as 153 after about 20-30 mins. then i stopped all thread workers since thats just too hot too me to continue as the Tjmax rating for my chipset states 158F thermal limit. i have not actually reached 158 but have came close enough to make me very uncomforable. normally during gaming and cpu intensive applications i reach near 150F. should i just upgrade the cooler, mind you i am using a 125w cpu not a 95w. the cooler i have is a stock one that originally came installed in this pc,cooling the amd athlon II 435. im very sure my thermal application is 100% correct. mind you the only difference i saw when applying the TIM was too much TIM caused higher temps. as i followed the "less is more" rule for TIM applications. i will try and attach some screenshots as well as the stock cooler im currently using. and the TIM i am also using is artic diamond 7 which i have used in the past with great results. but on much higher quality copper block intel coolers and or corsair H55 water coolers. thank you for any help and or advice guys!

well..celsius please..:D

let's convert some number....
idle
in bios 49-57C?? , in bios
110's to mid 130's f in windows..=>43-54'c
125'f => 52'c

prime95
153f => 68'c

first, yeah..your cpu temp is too hoot..for idle temperature at 52'c, this is crazy..
for daily application, if your processor touch slightly more than 55'c when full load, it's will be reduce your processor life time..
at 60'c, it's actually dangerous temp
oh, yes, you've already touch 67'c..well, you looks like live in dangerous..:D

and, a stock cooler..
no matter how good your thermal paste, and even if you applied the paste with the most correct way, that cooler it self is not adequate..
based on your picture, that's bad cooler for 125w cpu, x4 965...

get a better cooler..

something like coolermaster hyper 212 evo, this one is best cooler for the price..

much agreed, i thought as well it was the stock cooler. i manged to get it down a bit lower to more safer temps. once my chip is warmed up it likes to stay there, after a long gaming session or so it will idle around 120F 48C
if i let the system sit for a while at idle it'll drop to around 102-107F 38-41C.
under load during gaming its within safe temps for now but i will definitely invest in a new cooler very soon.

sorry to dig up this thread again, but i Just noticed something very odd, my Vcore voltage seems to having an extreme effect on the cpu temps i mentioned earlier. i failed to state that the Vcore in bios as well as said under coretemp is 1.392-1.400V at stock clocks and i have no ability to lower it via BIOS. only power option i have is "spread spectrum" ive done a little research and most have said that the C3 stepping revision for my chipset "AMD x4 955 @ 3.2Ghz" should be able to run normally with 1.2-1.3xV. i have noticed quite a temp drop by using windows power options for power management as it lowers the Vcore to 1.025V 200x4 0.8Ghz on all 4 cores. lowering the vcore as well as clock speed i have seen a temp drop very very low. i am thinking into this may also be the culprit cause of the heat issues as well as on top of the crappy stock cooler. any thoughts on this concept? thanks again
