I have a hd 7770 ghz edition by his right now. Id like to get either a r9 270 (first choice but hasnt been in stock) or a gtx 660 sc. My question is what fps can i see with these cards? My cpu is a i5 3570k. Also the gtx has the incentive of 3 free games when i buy it from my local microcenter. Help is appreciated thanks! Also id like to play on ultra settings with both, specifically what can these pull on bf4 ultra preset?

well there are some reviews on youtube you can look into. If your planning on playing at 1080p and you want to play on ultra settings I would not go any lower than a 270x. and i would also consider a 760 vs the 660

The 270 is between the 7850 and 7870, but yeah 270x and above, or the 760 and above. But ultra might be a bit tough for those cards also.

The reason i am asking between these cards is because of my psu. It is 450w with 1 six pin, and i dont want to spend more money as i am on a budget.

It looks like it will hit around 21-28 fps with everything maxed
if you get the GTX 660 SC 3gb version you may get a bit better performance.
It will be kind of tight to pull off ultra on a newer game if you are restricting your GPU selection based on your PSU.

The r9 270 should come with a molex to 6 pin adapter, in most cases at least. As long as you have some molex connectors available, you should be fine.

I have a PNY GTX 660 and it is able to max out Far Cry 3, Dead Island Riptide, Skyrim, Call of Duty Black Ops, etc.

Hope that helped.

Hello. the cards you are considering ( GTX 660 and 270x) can run games such as bf4 on ultra but certain factors come into play, first of all what resolution are you going to be running games at, second are you considering overclocking ( over clocking may become a problem with that 450w psu) and finally what fps are you most comfortable with 30fps or ideally 60fps. i would personally recommend the 270x over the 270 and ideally a 280x. Also factor in that over all amd has better price to performance ( not in all cases).

also you might have to turn down anisotropic filtering in most newer release games, it basically makes for a sharper image both near and far but at the cost of a fps drop

It's a good value for the price not only the performance you get from the card but also the extras nvidia includes.

I too prefer the quality and reliability of Nvidia graphics cards and the added extras is always a plus
