Wireless bridge + LAN connectivity problem

I currently have Comcast who supplied a modem that only supports a LAN bridge to a wireless router, no wireless repeating capabilities. I have two routers, identical netgears. Currently my computer is hardwired to the modem as i have no wireless card. my goal is to setup an extended network and beyond the increased wireless range I plan to continue to connect my computer as a LAN as well as my xbox to the other wireless repeating router as a LAN. I need to find a way to get Internet to the Xbox which is in the basement without running cables. #apartmentstruggles

I attempted making a wireless bridge first by calling Comcast and turning on bridge mode in the modem. Next attach one router to the modem and setup as the base station for wireless repeating. Then set the other router up as the repeater. I followed the online netgear instructions for wireless repeating to a "T". Identical SSID, subnet, channel, WPS protection, etc...the network shows up and I'm able to connect but no communication. Is there an issue with the DNS? Do I need to set up static IPs? I attempted this but wasn't sure if I was doing it right. Any ideas?

It would be best if you could specify the modem and router models.

The best result will most likely be obtained by connecting the modem to router A with an Ethernet cable (to the WAN port) and then connecting the second router B to A with an LAN to LAN connection, and then configuring B as a wireless AP (turn off DHCP, static address). If running an Ethernet cable is just not at all possible, next best would be connecting the two routers with the Zyxel PLA5205kit powerline adapters in place of the cable to connect their LAN ports.

The modem is a Technicolor TC8305C. The two routers are Netgears WGR614v9. No, I can't run an Ethernet cable between the two routers...if I could I'd just ditch the second router and run a cable directly to my Xbox. The obvious and easy answer is the I go drop $50 and buy a wireless receiver for my Xbox. My goal and reason for posting here is to avoid spending more money. I love a project and like to do things the hard way, a trait that frustrates my wife but gives me a lot of satisfaction when the job is done.

For clarification on my setup the Internet comes in the house in one location. The same place I have my computer. I currently have the Comcast supplied Technicolor modem set on wireless. In order to connect this wireless router to another I have to call Comcast's wireless support and they set it to bridge mode, which I then attach the first netgear (AP1) to the modem using LAN 1 on the modem and WAN on the netgear. After setting it up AP1 as the base station I also connect the computer ino one of the netgear LAN slots as the modems other three LAN slots are deactivated when in bridge mode. I then setup the other netgear router as the repeater (AP2) and set it up in the basement and attach it through one of the LAN ports to the Xbox.

I was able to successfully set up the routers as repeaters that give off signals, but non of my devices wireless or wired were able to communicate. I was able to connect to the network via wireless with the WEP password I established but I'm not able to load anything.

I'll give turning off the DHCP a try...thought I tried that during my initial trouble shoot but I'll try again tonight and post an update. If there are any other ideas I'd love to hear them. This process is always a hassle since everytime I attempt I have to call Comcast for them to manually setup the modem as a bridge and if I fail I have to call them back to restore the original settings.

If you want to try this with no other equipment, use the Technicolor as your main router, then configure the first netgear as an AP and place it as far as you can run a cable toward the XBOX. Then place the second in repeater mode about halfway to the XBOX. Your manual has a section on setting up the repeater mode HERE. After you test the setup to determine if it will meet your gaming needs and you determine that it won't then what you will want to buy is a pair of very good powerline adapters to attach the second netgear next to the XBOX (first next to the Technicolor).
