Today I decided to finally try and flash my 6950 to 6970 to try to get as many frames as possible for Day Z. I got the shaders unlocked but when I put the power in Graphics overdrive to +20% in catalyst control manager like how it says in the guide I get less frames in tests than when I have it at 0.

My specs are:
AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 965 Processor (4 CPUs), ~3.4GHz
Coolermaster evo fan
8192MB RAM
MSI 970A-G46 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS
antec three hundred case
Antec BP550 Plus 550W Continuous Power ATX12V V2.2 80 PLUS Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Intel Haswell Fully Compatible
amd 6950 flashed

Solution
Like the man says, it's just in the nature of your particular card, not all unlocked flawlessly so turn the power back down, the card doesn't need it unless you're trying to overclock and if it's anything like mine even a mild overclock will cause it to fall over anyway.
Words of caution:
Flashing to full 6970 specs WILL damage the memory on the card, unlocking the shaders is safe, though.
