Hello,

I know there have been many threads made about this topic, but I still can't seem to find an answer to my question. I am adding a 1TB WD Blue HDD to my system which has a 120GB Intel SSD with windows 7 on the SSD. Now, when I hook up the new mechanical drive to the pre-existing system, it is recognized in the bios but not in windows 7. So I go into disk management to activate it, and windows is asking if I want the drive to be MBR or GPT. As far as I have researched, MBR is the right choice. However, is it going to cause problems that my SSD has windows on it, while the storage drive is a MBR?

After following this I assume I just right click on the drive in disk manager and click create volume, and just make the volume the max size (~990GB)?

ASUS P5QL PRO
Core 2 Duo e8400

Thanks!

As long as your drive is smaller than 2TB MBR should be fine, you should only need GPT if the disk is over 2TB and as for them being different I can't see that being a problem, I have a pile of disks in my system, some MBR some GPT and they work together flawlessly.

And my system is Windows 7 pro x64
