How do I import contacts into Outlook from gmail or yahoo mail

Hi all.

I am in the process of re building an XP Pro PC .

Part of my task is to get Windows XP Office mail up and going. I have managed to configure the email side of it and I have received some emails but as yet I have no contacts or private folders in Outlook.

I have an Yahoo mail and Gmail account that has a good number of folders and contacts but I do not seem to be able to import these things from either email clients.

Can anyone please walk me through the process of importing the above into Outlook?

Yahoo Mail or Gmail data cannot be imported into Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express unless they (Yahoo & Gmail) have an export feature which can export the data in a form that Outlook understands, such as a VCard file (.vcf)

Only one way. Call up each contact in Yahoo and/or Gmail, then manually enter the data into Outlook. Neither service provides a way to export their contact list.

Hi there.

All fixed. I found the import/export functions in both Yahoo and Gmail in the contacts folder. In each, I exported the address book contents as a CSV file and saved them onto the desktop.

From there I loaded then onto a USB stick and took it over to my old laptop, plugged in the stick and then imported both CSV files into Outlook.

When all was done,I went through the new contacts list making adjustments and updates as required..
