A good Samsung or Asus monitor will do real nice at 1080p and 22-23" Both brands are my favourite hence I own a Samsung but I find the series 3/5 from Samsung are decent value with excellent screens.
These look like a good choice:
-Samsung S24C300HL 23.6" 5ms (GTG) 1920x1080 *model tends to be cheaper then the Asus
-Asus 24" VE248H 2ms 1920x1080 *outperforms Samsung and better choice overall

Asus vx238h about $180 Australian dollars and has a 1ms response time runs like a charm. 1080p and 23"
