is there an AMD processor that is cheaper but same quality as the Intel i5 4670k as im moving on from console gaming to pc gaming and don't know anything about pc gaming really

If budget is an issue, go for an 8320 and overclock it. It is a lower clock 8350, and you can get an 8320 and a decent cooler for the same price as an 8350, overclock it, and get better performance for the same price. It is generally comparable to a 4670k, because the 4670k gets better single threaded performance, but games that utilize more cores tend to run better on the 83x0. The reason you'll hear a lot of people saying Intel is better for gaming is because at the moment, it is. But for cheaper, you can get an 8320, overclock it, get similar performance, and probably have a better CPU in the future when games use more cores effectively. You can already see this progress being made in games like Battlefield 4, which can utilize 6 cores.
