Just purchased and installed a new ASUS GTX 760 and it's humming right along as it should.

I've got it powered by a PCI-E 6+2 pin cable coming off my Corsair GS800 (2013) PSU and it seems to be working fine. What confuses me is that I just noticed that tucked away in the packaging of the GPU was splitter which converts two (2) male PCI-E 6-pin plugs to one (1) male PCI-E 8-pin cable.

To be clear; it's a y-connection - two female PCI-E 6-pin, one male PCI-E 8-pin. Is this simply for people who's power supplies do not have an 8-pin or 6+2 pin lead, or does ASUS want me to use this splitter with two 6-pin leads rather than my existing single lead for some reason?

The GPU included a 52-page "instruction manual" (26 languages, 2 of pages instructions each) which does not mention the splitter - in fact, it barely covers installing the card properly and I'm sure it causes much heads scratching among first-timers.

Solution
Yes, it's included for those powersupplies that lack the required dedicated 8 pin PCI-E lead.
You have connected your card correctly.
Be at peace and enjoy the new card.
