i built my pc a four days ago and it has been working fine but when i went to power it up this morning it said configuring updates so it did that then restarted and took a long time to boot up but when it did it went to the same screen again i let it configure the updates once more and then it booted up again really slowly and got to the login menu and because it took a long time to boot i decided to try and reset it again and ince then it has not booted i have tried refreshing but it says that part of the memory is locked and i need to unlock it and chkdsk said it found some errors but it did not leave any specific one and when i ran chkdsk /f it didnt fix anything next i tried booting without windows disk again but it gets past the bios and gets stuck on a blank screen with a flashing gray cursor what do i do please help?

Try to boot in safe mode. Use your installation media to access boot options (not the once where you select which hard drive to boor from, but the once with Safe boot, Safe with Network, and so on. You need to look up online how it is done, it may be accessible from F8. There will be options to restore from last best known configurations. Try that. The boot options (Safe mode) may not be on the list- there steps to activate it using Command Prompt. My links are stored on another computer- I had to resuscitate this computer. lol.

Sometime when you do updates, they just not installing properly. I have seen computers dying after update many times. You can press F8 (or what ever it is on your board) for boot options. You have to look it up. But glad you fixed it.
