I have a 7870 my self, and i'll be looking to upgrade it in the next 6 months. Its worth noting it should have a fairly long life if you dont expect to be always playing on the 'ultra' setting. Its pretty much the same gfx chip thats in the ps4, so expect it to be perfectly viable for a good while.

If you can afford the $200--$250 range: (solid 1920x1080 gaming on mid to high settings...)
- GTX760
- AMD 270X

If you can $300--$500 range: (high to ultra settings...)
- GTX770 or GTX780
- AMD 280X or 290...

Basically, the more you can afford the faster and longer it will remain relevant card...

Be sure to POST motherboard and powersupply brand/model, we'll need to take a look at these to assure you can support those higher end cards.... (mainly power concerns, but could look for SLI/CF support from your motherboard too)

Second Lee-M's....

The 7870 is no slouch card. It IS pretty much end-of-life as far as being available for sale. SO, some good deals out there.

That said, I have two (2) older systems running off AMD 5870's (hey, a $450 card in it's day...) I can run BF3 on Med and BF4 on High (1600 x 1200 resolution). And the 7870 is a bit faster....

Now a single 7970Ghz or R9 280X is MORE than twice as fast as the Dual CrossFired pair of those older 5870's........... (so, you see where things are going)

I would NOT get a 270x or a 760, as they are only about 5% and 10% better than your 7870, respectively.

If you're looking for something good now and still relevant in 2 years, you will need AT LEAST a GTX770 or R9 280x. They will be decent for 1080p for another 2 years or so. If you want something a little more in the 3 year range, you're going to want a 290 or a 780.

Your GPU runs BF4 easier than BF3? That's very weird.

Ah, you can never have too much power.... (but 650watts is plenty for a SINGLE card) If you want a supply that's future proof (can support Dual cards (don't know if you current system could support thou)) then go for something like and 850watt supply I'm running dual 680's (GTX 690 actually) and dual R9 280X's with a Corsair HX850...

Has a crazy seven (7) year warranty too.......
