I previously had a thread where I was told an HD 7750 would be good for me but was wondering if there was one better and if it is compatible with my motherboard.

PC specs:
AMD FX(tm)-4100 Quad-Core Processor
CPU speed - 3.6 GHz
8gb ram
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium Edition Service Pack 1 (build 7601), 64-bit
AMD Radeon HD 6450 2gb

My motherboard is GIGABYTE 78LMT-USB 3

Also I have a budget willing to go to around £120-£140 and want to know whats best for my money etc.
Could I also be told a few examples of game run quality?

Many Thanks, Mike :D

The HD7750 is a nice, inexpensive card and is quite well matched to the current CPU, the two should allow you to play at mediumish settings, even high in less demanding games quite well.
Of course, more is always better ;)  so If the powersupply can handle it: http://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Sapp...
It's going to be quite severely held back by the current CPU, mind so it's nice to know you can just drop a faster one in later if you want:

I'm not sure how to find out. I know that my computer runs of 500watts. It says 250v 15 amps

So the Sapphire 11199-16-20G AMD Radeon HD 7870 Dual-X 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card would work well but not to its full potential because of my CPU? Would this still be able to run certain games on medium? And also is this definitely compatible with my motherboard?

Depends very much on the game and benchmarks aren't much help here, they all use massively powerful systems so they'll get much better results but you should get good gameplay on medium/high in most games.
Only possible compatability issue is with the power supply, pop the side panel off and give us the exact make and model number, we'll be able advise on possible problems then.

Sorry for late reply. The make of the PSU is ATX but not sure what else to look for on it. Here's a pic, may be hard to read.

If you need it more specific I will type everything that is on it :)

Okay you have a "500watt" supply. BUT, as is the case with Most cheaper supplies that's 500watts total.....

What you need in a powersupply is power on the 12volt line(s) for GPU. In your case its the YELLOW line listed as 24A.
That's 24amps @ 12volts (equation is Power (in watts) = I (current in amps) * V (volts). SO, your powersupply puts out 288watts.

Also, most cheaper supplies will list their peak power, which means they can NOT sustain that power for hours of gaming.

Get a PSU & GPU (here is a suggested PSU..)

So is it vital that I upgrade my PSU or would my computer be able to handle the Sapphire 11199-16-20G AMD Radeon HD 7870 Dual-X 2GB GDDR5 Graphics Card?

I suggested the HD7870 because it's the strongest card I could find after a quick search under budget, also bear in mind the CURRENT CPU will hold it back, but the card will be able to exploit the performance of a better CPU, if you choose to upgrade later-something which cannot be said of the 7750.
If you choose to use the stronger HD7870 instead of the HD7750, a better power supply will be required.
There's a lot of cheap and very nasty units out there so if you decide to add a better unit look for: Between 500 and550 Watts with dual 6 pin (or dual 6+2 pin) PCI-E leads from Antec, Silverstone, Seasonic, Corsair, XFX, EVGA or OCZ.
Sounds odd I know, suggesting a unit with the same rated Wattage to yours, but units from those makers will provide higher output on the 12 volt line (which is where most computers draw their power) and offer better protection. Expect to pay between £35 and £50 if you shop around.
Nice: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/500w-evga-100-w1-0500-kr...
This is a little too much unless you plan on adding a faster CPU AND overclocking later: http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Components/Power+Supplie... Fine unit, though.

Thank you very much! That's all I needed to know. :D  :D  I think for now I will go for the 7750 :D
