For future proofing, would it be better to have two 770s with 4gb VRAM, or one 780ti?

I am a junior in high school, and I know that if I won't have money during college to upgrade my computer. Because of this, I am trying to make my computer as future prof as possible in preperation. So do you think in 4 years having only 3gb of VRAM will still be ok, or should I get two 770s with 4gb of VRAM?

Two Gb's starts to show as a problem on some game today, even at 1920 x 1080. At higher resolution, 2560 x 1440, you really should consider 3Gb as mandatory...

Going with 770's, those are really just 680's "rebadged" so they are getting a bit dated already.

I'd go with SLI 780's or single 780Ti (that should be plenty of GPU power for awhile...)

(I'm running a GTX 690 which I thought I'd NEVER outgrow.... ha, 1 year later there are games I can NOT play on Ultra...)

I think if you want to play games with single monitor setup than even 2GB VRAM will be sufficient for future. And I prefer a single powerful GPU instead of SLI/Crossfire.

If you are thinking that you can multiply VRAM then you are wrong. Ex. 2 x 770 with 2GB VRAM = 2GB VRAM, not 4GB VRAM.

I know I can't multiply ram, but you can buy a 4gb version of the 770. I will go one monitor 1440p, and maybe a second later.

Yes you can always buy a 4GB VRAM version GPU, of course it will not bite you. Go with your desired version it may help you gaming on that resolution with dual monitor setup.

I was just telling you what is required and what is not. Though you can play with 2GB VRAM with dual monitor of 1440p. Good luck.
