I've found this question asked many times, but no definitive answers. I have a full-strength open wireless network. I have three wireless devices connected to it. I also have a Windows 7 computer that will show the network as a full-strength open network broadcasting its SSID. However, when I try to connect, it immediately says it can't connect to the network. Troubleshooter says "can't connect to hidden network" although it is not a hidden network and it's SSID is being broadcast. I have tried all of the suggested troubleshooting options to no avail. My networking knowledge is limited. I am wondering if the MAC address is being blocked? Any suggestions?

Have you already gone into the network control panel, manage wireless networks, and deleted the network then restart your computer and select that network when it is detected?

If so, I would try changing the MAC address with the free tool HERE.

Do you control the router?

Thank you for your help. My problem was a defective wireless adapter. Although it was defective, for some reason, it could still see my network's SSID at full strength but couldn't connect. I replaced it with a good adapter and now it works fine.
