The problem is only on my own computer- my router/modem stays connected the whole time and everyone else's connection stays too.

Whenever I browse the internet (e.g. on forums, watching streams/vids) my connection to the internet will drop after a few mins. Pages will say there is no connection etc.

Every time, to reconnect the ONLY THING I have to do is right click on my router, disconnect and reconnect and instantly my internet is connected again (within seconds).
It is also instantly fixed when I unplug my wireless adapter and plug it back in (within seconds again).

The strange thing is that I can be online gaming on steam for several hours (literally 6 hours straight) with no disconnects, but when i open a browser it will disconnect for sure, sometimes after a matter of 2-3 mins and sometimes after 30, but it will.

It seems most noticeable when i'm either watching long videos or watching streams on twitch.

I have a good computer (6gb ddr3, i7 950 etc.) and fibre optic 55Mb internet, so I don't think it's being limited by those at all. I have also performed a full scan of my computer with avast and nothing was found.

key points:

pretty much only happens when i'm using a web browser

disconnect only happens to my computer

i can instantly reconnect by simply unplugging/replugging my adapter or disconnecting/reconnecting.. so my router is not losing connection but i am.

What can i do? :( it's either my computer or my network adapter i think, please help me!

I'm using google chrome. However i tried using plain internet explorer and i thought it had fixed (didn't happen for like 10 mins or so) then it just disconnected again.

No I haven't tried that- i'm using this adapter:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-Link-TL-WN822N-300MBPS-Wireless-Adapter/dp/B00416Q5KI

would you recommend i try this? i'm not really sure how i would go about doing it though

Okay, just done this- will let you know if it's fixed or if it happens again. i'll give it an hour or so and monitor if it disconnects.

Thanks for helping so far.
