Hey, I recently built a gaming pc and i have really been wondering what temps i should be getting. Right now i gave an ETS-T40 cooler and it's cooling my i7 4770k, i'm getting temps in the mid 30's not going higher than 38 degrees Celsius. I just want to know if that is a good temperature because i might not have put my thermal paste on right. Thanks!

Ok so those temperatures mean nothing. Don't concern yourself with the idle temperature (unless it's something ridiculous) as it depends a whole lot on your ambient temperature. The only thing you should worry about is when you CPU is under 100% load. I personally like to use Intel...

Yes that's completely fine, however I have a feeling you're telling us your idle temperatures, which mean very little. Did you put your CPU under load while reading the temps (using prime 95 or intel burn test)?

I read the temps while i was in my bios which probably means it was on idle, Can you send me the links to the software i can use to check my temps? Also can you tell me what a good temperature is for idle, medium usage, and heavy usage?

The only thing you should worry about is when you CPU is under 100% load. I personally like to use Intel Burn test (download link) . Try running that for a good 10+ minutes and then measure your temperature there. I like using Real Temp to measure temperatures (download link) . Anything under 80c is way within your safe zone, I would start getting concerned if it goes over 90c. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks! When i finally built my pc i checked to see how much load my CPU was under and it was like under 10% with a bunch of Google Chrome windows open so i think i'll be fine. Ill try out that Intel burn test as soon as i get back to my new baby! << My PC

:D Don't worry about it too much, it doesn't sound like you've overclocked your CPU yet so there's very little chance of it being unstable. However if you want to make sure, you should definitely do it with a stress test ;)
