Hi... I've been flying blind when it comes to home networking. I've hobbled together an ever growing LAN that is finally starting to give me a bunch of headaches. After looking thru a number of posts I settled on this config for new improved home LAN:

(any suggestion/advice would be greatly appreciated)

- rewiring with Cat6 (from Cat5)

-- Router -- Netgear N750 (WNDR4000... thinking of disabling WiFi on the main and just using wireless AP)
1. in from cable modem
2. TRENDnet 8-Port Unmanaged Gigabit Switch, TEG-S80g
3. TRENDnet 8-Port Unmanaged Gigabit Switch, TEG-S80g
4. PC-Win7
5. Mac

2 - TEG-S80g Switch
2.1 in from WNDR4000 router
2.2 Ooma
2.3 PC Win 7
2.4 PC Win 7
2.5 Belkin wifi AP

3 - TEG-S80g Switch
3.1 in from WNDR4000
3.2 DirecTV DVR 1
3.3 DirecTV DVR 2
3.4 Xbox 360
3.5 Belkin AP
3.6 Panasonic Smart TV
3.7 PC Win 7

Solution
Unless you turn off most of the features on one or the other router, having two will give you headaches.

Your setup isn't that much different than mine, but I'm using only one router

4 port router with WiFi)
Ooma
Linux firewall
TV
WiFi enabled cameras

From the firewall box, Switch 1
From that switch
Wii
multiple PCs
Switch 2

from Switch 2
multiple other devices.
