Is the Asrock X79 extreme4-M Ivy Bridge-e ready?

Hi all,
I bought this motherboard today. I still have to buy the CPU but seen the small performance difference between the 3930k and the 4930K either will do. Of course, I'll go for the latter if the motherboard is Ivy Bridge-e ready out of the box. Does anyone know if it is?

I checked the cpu support list on the manufacturer website and IB-e is supported since a later bios version than SB-e. Is this relevant?

The rest of the build is:
Fractal Design Define Mini
4x4gb 2400mhz g.skill trident x
120gb samsung 840 evo
250gb WD blue caviar
1tb WD green caviar

And I think I'll get a R9 290x. The 780 Ti would also be ok but the amd card comes with the BF4 coupon.

According to ASRock it supports both, but make sure the BIOS is version 3.0 (relased back in August) or newer for the i7-4930K: http://www.asrock.com/mb/cpu.asp?Model=X79%20Extreme4-M

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I read that too but is there a way to find out what bios version the motherboard comes with? I don't know, like is it written somewhere on the box or maybe inside?

There's no way to know the BIOS version, but it should be 3.0 or newer unless you buy from a place that still has stock from 5 months ago. Stores normally don't keep stock for more than a few weeks at most.

I've read somewhere on the internet you can check the bios version by looking at the revision number printed on the motherboard itself. is it reliable?
I bought from Atelco.de, it was the last piece they had in stock. I've heard good things about them

All you can determine from the motherboard revision number is the minimum BIOS version. This picture from Anandtech shows the motherboard revision number (1.03), but not the BIOS version: http://images.anandtech.com/doci/5188/X79%20Extreme4-M%20Top.jpg

so, unless I find Rev. 3.00 I cannot be sure which bios version is installed.. that sucks... maybe a 3930k will be a safer way to go..

so there's no way the pc will boot if I install the 4930k on an unsupported bios version, isnt it?

Can't the store tell you if they had it since end of July or before? Unless it's a really small store that, I doubt they would have such a motherboard for more than a few weeks.

I've been searching through the Internet... what if I replaced the bios chip? Would that work? Is it a safe way to go?

Why do you have to replace it? The motherboard was in stock for more than 5 months and it came with an old BIOS version?

Thanks for your help, dude! I actually found out that the board is Ivy Bridge-E ready when I received the package. There's a sticker on the box showing it supports the new IB-E series processors

I'm close to finishing it.
I already have:

Fractal Design Define Mini
be quiet system power 7 500w 80+ silver
The motherboard itself
2x4gb ddr3 2400mhz ram (i need 2 more 4 gb sticks to have a full quad-channel working memory configuration)
cooler master hyper 412 slim.
i7 4820k, arriving on monday (4930k a bit too expensive for me atm)
I'm waiting for the video card too. It's a powercolor r9 270 OC.. arriving next week too

I'm pretty excited about my rig...

Yeah, it should. I want to start working on FullHD video and image editing. should be blazing fast... even though I know the 4930k would make it even way faster.. but it's ok.. I'll upgrade in time..
