I currently have a gateway dx4860.

After putting a gtx 660 and a corsair tx 650, I decided it was time to replace the processor (an i3-2120) with an I5 3570K. I made sure that they used the same sockets and went ahead and replaced it. When I booted up my PC it beeped four times and didn't respond. I then put the i3 back and now its fine. I'm almost positive that I installed the i5 correctly, so does anybody have any ideas of what went wrong?

Bent pin, maybe? Also try updating your bios.

You need a BIOS upgrade, since it's on the last gen H67 chipset. Check the manufacturer website for it

It's exactly that, upgrade the bios, put in your new CPU and you should be ready to go!
