Hey all,
I've been using a customac for about 2 years now and it's worked really well. I can boot into Mountain Lion using the tonymacx86 bootloader for OSX stuff, and I can boot into windows for gaming and other applications, and amazingly my GTX 560 Ti works completely natively with OSX with no drivers needed. I doubt the same will be true of a 7990 which is what I am hoping to buy, for gaming and for a little bit of CAD work. I'm unsure of a few things before I go and buy a 7990 however. I will want to keep the 560 Ti as primary so I can use OSX but also have the 7990 connected for when I want to use that, and am unsure what cables/adapters I may need.
a) Is it possible to run multiple GPU's from my motherboard? I notice that there is only one (16 pin?) connector on my mobo that would fit a GPU like my GTX 560, with only other ones that have a similar morphology but smaller size.
b) Will my power supply (corsair TX750M) be able to cope with two GPUs such as the above or should I buy a more powerful one?
This is a quick copy/paste of the relevant specs of my system from tonymacx86:
System:
GA-Z77X-UD5H [rev 1.0]
CPU:
Intel Core i7 3770 3.4GHz Socket 1155 8MB Cache
Graphics:
Gigabyte GTX 560Ti OC 1GB GDDR5 Dual DVI Mini HDMI Out PCI-E
Other Hardware:
SSD OCZ 240GB Agility 3 2.5" SATA-III SSD
Memory: 24 GB blah blah
Thanks
