Gta IV on Gt 630

hi there. i have a hp g5460uk customized with a gforce gt 630 and 500w psu. i also have a hp 23xi full hd minitor. ive got gta 4 and my game optimizer says unable to retrieve current settings. Therefore i dont know what settings to choose. ive patched my gta 4 1.0.3.0 and my eflc has latest update. so plz tell me what settings i should specifically use.

medium and the res at 1366*768 u can get 45 average fps

u wont get nice fps at 1080p but u can play though..wats ur ram if it is 4gb then u can expect some slight increase

I managed to play GTA IV with an NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT (really old GPU) and still get fair fps and resolution with default settings.

if u want to play at 1080p then u need to keep almost all settings at low to get nearly 30 fps on 1366*768 u can keep vsync on detail on and all those number based settings to 35-40 each depending on what u need the most like draw distance or shadow

GeForce optimizer doesn't optimize all games because of various reasons. I'd recommend experimenting a bit with the settings, but on low you should be able to pull off at least 40 fps at 1080p, because that's what I did with a worse GPU.

well the reason could be many for example ur optimizer version might hav been before gta4 and so doesnt support that or maybe rockstar have built the game so as to not be auto optimized anyway gta 4 is a badly ported game to pc so u cld expect fpr issues

i know but about 3 months before when i bought the game and installed it, it optimized it. then i reinstalled and it said unable to retrieve current settings. i even patched it to 1.0.7.0

Just try low settings with your chosen resolution. It should work fine, but I can't promise good fps.

Optimizers aren't really that useful. It's really simple to just try what fits. Try reinstalling the optimizer if you really want it.

I manged to play it with a GT640, You should be ok.

try re installing both gta 4 and the optimizer might help try another 3rd party optimizer if re installing doesn't work
