Does DDR3 memory Speed really matter in gaming?

i was just wondering with memory stick is better and does clock speed, Cas Latency, and Timing matter when it comes to memory/Gaming ?

- i'm open to suggestions , the max im looking for is 8 GB of ddr3 ram
-I also have a Z77A-G45 gaming MSI motherboard if needed

  1. with an APU (built in graphics cards into the CPU) the ram speed is very important. with chips without a GPU built in, like the AMD FX series 1600Mhz is usually good enough, anything over 1866Mhz prob wont be felt in games performance

    You want your RAM to be 1600Mhz min. 1.5v preferably (the 1.6v ones are older tech, for that speed at least). Cl 9-9-9-24 is a good base. Lower CAS is better.
  3. 1600/9 is entry level and sufficient, for strictly gaming moving up to 1866 or 2133 can garner you up to a couple or more extra FPS
