Getting a new graphics card. Its between the r9 280x or the 290. If I get the 280x I will be getting an i5 or i7 in February, But if I go for the 290x I wont have enough money to upgrade my CPU.

I know the 280x will be fine for all games currently out but I'm not going to replace it for a good 2/3 years(Unless it breaks of course)

I am aware of the 'problems' with the 290, such and the large amount of sound and power draw when it is at full load but it really does not bother me too much. I've ordered a 600w PSU becuase I only have a 500w right now and I know it wont be enough for the 280x or the 290.

Right now I have a slightly overclocked fx-6100 six-core at 3.5Ghz. I do know its worth upgrading. I will have around £200 to spend in February.

Thank you!

Def. go 280X and I5/I7...
especially if your gaming at 1080p....
It's best to go mid-teir rather than try and future proof...get what you need(or just a little more) and upgrade when needed...the 290 could be obsolete in a couple years for all anyone knows.

Ok, Thanks! Will the 600w support the i5/i7 as well as the 280x, Or will I have to swap it out later down the line?

Yea it should be fine as long as it's of good quality.
Actually your 500w would be fine TBH...as long as it's a good supply.

I have a 500 currently, But its some kind of unbranded one I got with the PC. Would you recommend an i5 or i7? Considering I do not, And do not plan on editing/recording videos. I might try some animation but I will mostly be playing games like BF4 and Arma and Minecraft (Don't know if the 280x will run this one).
