I built a pc back in 2009 with a Phenom II 940,
3.0GHz CPU, with an "AM2+ CPU socket", plus a biostar AM2+ motherboard.
At work we use all Intel CPUs. So I see where the intel platform is currently at, performance-wise.
But when it comes time to buy my own home use computer, I normally buy an AMD CPU and mobo, due to the better price/performance ratio.
In reviewing several AMD CPU "Comparisons" between my Deneb 940 and
current AMD quad-core, even against some cheaper 6-core and 8-core CPUs, the new CPUs do not show "that much" improvement since the Deneb from 2009
(especially when comparing to the new quad-cores).
I had really hoped to see performance increases with the new and current quad-cores; something in the area of like 20% or more, given that the deneb was from 2009.
Questions:
1. Should I just wait until the next round of AMDs to come to market?
