I, for the longest time, have used windows with a plain black background, aero features off, and a disabled desktop window manager service. Today I decided to enabled aero and the desktop window manager service. My problem is that when I game, that is open any Direct X or OpenGL application at random intervals that window randomly loses focus, if the application is a fullscreen application, it exits fullscreen and goes back into windowed mode. This problem never occurs when DWM service is off, but with it off my windows does not have any theme.
I am using Windows 7 Professional (x64) (Service Pack 1).

AMD Phenom II x6 (Variably clocked from 2.0 to 3.0 GHZ)
(2x) XFX AMD Radeon HD 7770 GHz Editions
No non windows apps starting on startup. (32 Processes)
Any ideas on solving this?
