Ok I have been looking at 2 monitors
this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009484
and this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236307&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=
and was wondering if the 23.6 would look just as good as the 21.5 seeing as I generally sit 32.5 inches away from my screen (but i could move the screen back further) will the bigger screen cause issues because the pixel density wouldn't be as good or would i not notice it

i currently have a 20 inch 1680x1050 monitor and can't see the pixels if that helps

IPS like that Acer is better than that Asus which uses a TN. IPS gives wider viewing angles and also when viewing from a angle, there are no color shifts.
Monitor's millisecond ratings are mostly marketing gimmick, since people will buy the one with the lowest ms rating and each monitor manufacture measures it differently from one another. Most will not notice a difference between 1ms and 5ms.
High-end screens like those with resolution above 1920x1080, their fastest ms will be 5ms.
Between the 2 monitors, I would go with the Acer because it's a IPS panel. Want a larger screen with IPS then here's some of them.

Monitor: Asus VS239H-P 23.0"...
I think bigger is better...Just me so the 23.6" Would be my preference. Now looking at those two you chose they are very nice but I would take the Asus over the Acer any day, The Acer is 5ms GTG whilst the Asus is 1ms GTG. Though the Acer is an IPS display, having 1ms is much better and the quality of the Asus screens in my view looks much better. It is time for an upgrade as you are going from 1680x1050 to 1920x1080.

what do you think about this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236335&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= ?

I have never had a good time with Acer as all the monitors I have bought from them barely lasted 1 year, they started to get red lined through the screen and all. That is why I like Asus and Samsung, use both brands and Monitors have lasted my 3 years and still run excellent. I would go IPS display any day but with the choice of a nightmare and a not as good screen but lasts 3 times longer, I would go for option 2.

Here is one from Newegg and my personal choice:
