Hello,
I'm just got a new ssd after having a 500 go hd which contains win 8 on it. It installed win 8.1 on the ssd and everything seemed to be working. It restarted the computer after installing a few programs/drivers. When it booted back up in got to the black screen saying please insert boot drive and restart or whatever it says. If restarted and went into bios and the ssd is set as boot drive however it won't boot. I then set the HD as boot drive and it worked then i got to a screen saying which os would u like to use? Giving me option of selection win 8 or 8.1 (which is on ssd). So I got onto my Computer like that. Is there a way I can fix it so the ssd will boot properly?

Thanks

Are there any tests I could run to be sure? I can boot from it if I select the HD as the first boot device. Like I said, it asks which OS I want to boot and I have 8.1 on the SSD so that's how im booting off of it right now. If this has anything to do with it, the HD in BIOS has UEFI patch on the logo of it in the boot options but the SSD does not have that.

When you boot up your mobo should have some sort of option for disk check? It'll scan your disk and determine if it has issues. Consult your manual for that.
