Can a hard drive be mounted upside down?

Im trying to rearrange my case, if i can mount my hitachi drive upside down, i can fit a much larger case fan in there. Is it going to trash my hard drive though?

Most of the time.... no. As long as it is free from vibrations.

However, you should check with your manual for the HDD model you have. It may have specific mounting positions recommended by manufacturer.
