  • CPU: i5-4670k
    GPU: Radeon R9 280X
    SSD: Samsung SSD 830 128GB
    MOBO: ASUS H81I-PLUS, Socket-1150
    PSU: Silver Power SP-SS500(500w

The bolded ones are the new pieces.
I am upgrading from; Radeon HD6870 gpu, AMD fx4100 cpu, and a mobo with am3+ socket.

So I decided to make the switch to Intel, so I had to buy a new MOBO as well.

Things to note:

- The MOBO on the upgrading-list at top was really cheap, is it okay or should I go for a more expensive one?

- I was not certain if my 500w-PSU would handle this equipment, part of the reason I posted here. I'm really afraid of damaging anything so want to be sure about it.

Does it look allright? Any changes that should be made?

The H81i is a very low end chipset. I recommend you get a z87 based board if you are going to overclock, or an h87 if you aren't. If you are not planning ot overclock then you can save some money by going with the 4770 because the only advantage of a k series SKU is the unlocked multiplier which is only used for easy overclocking.

the mobo is ok, though if you want to play around with overclocking and want the best performance for the socket that won't break the bank i'd look into some lower end z87 boards, you'll get a small bump in performance and more options for expansion. other than the board i'd say it's a solid build!

What Jason said, you probably want to look at a z87 motherboard with your cpu. If you're not overclocking, get a 4670 + H87 motherboard.

I'm not sure about how silver power, but if you're overclocking, maybe look for a 600w psu. Otherwise, I'd suggest maybe an XFX/Antec/Seasonic/Corsair psu for around 500-550w Bronze rating.

with the h81 swap in the 4570 cpu. myself i get the asus h87 that has four ram slots (32)g max out or look at the asus-a mb it been combo with the 4670k. as this is a gaming rig I look into a good 650w power supply from cosair or a sesonic unit or a rebranded sesonic.

if this is right your power supply older units with two rails. not good for newer gaming rig and if it as old as it is it wont work with haswell cpu.

I took your suggestions and now it looks like this:

CPU i5-4670k
GPU: Radeon R9 280X
SSD:Samsung SSD 830 128GB
MOBO: ASUS Z87-A, Socket-1150
PSU: Corsair CX 600W PSU

Better? I forgot to list the cpu cooler. I don't know what brand it is right now, but it came prebuilt with my PC a couple of years ago. Any requirements for the cooler I need to consider?

ok what you changed things to is perfect. that motherboard should keep you happy for a good amount of time! also corsair has some of the best and most reliable psu's on the market. if you are interested in overclocking i would recommend something in the corsair h100i/80i line since there both fairly cheap and super easy to install while giving pretty good cooling for overclocking. if you want an air cool i'd find a good noctua branded kit with a dual or triple fan setup.
