I went out to the movies to watch the Hobbit, and when I got back, the computer couldn't connect to the monitor. The only lead I have is Dad vacuuming the back of my computer case where all the cables go. The monitor works fine with other computers, now I'm just wondering if my dad has accidentally done something.

So from what oyu wrote I assume that you already tried the monitor on other PC and it works.
Did you also try another monitor on your PC?
Also, is the PC starting up (lights on the keyboard, mouse, fan noise etc.)?
If the PC is not starting maybe he just touched the switch from the PSU.

Yeah, we've tried another monitor and it also had no effect. Everything else starts up (keyboard, lights, fans) and we even here the sound it makes when you get to the user selection screen. The only thing not working for us is the connection to any monitor.

Check the pins on both ends of the cable that all are in place. Make sure connections are tight. Maybe try another port if its a DVI cable.

I bet dad accidentally tugged on the cable and something got loose or broke.

Take the cable out and examine it closely for bent or missing pins, do the same with the card sockets.
It is also possible the card has been dislodged, so try reseating it.
If the motherboard has onboard graphics, try them.

Stupid assumption, but this is included in the troubleshooting (and you didn`t mention about it): Make sure the monitor is not closed from the button.

Also, can you use a different cable/connection type from the PC video output to the monitor? Maybe a VGA/DVI-I/HDMI cable?
