Sound cards Question

What is the purpose of having a sound card in my CPU?

in comparison to that card, I am sure your onboard audio will be plenty. Unless theres some other reason you did not state I would stick with onboard.

Have you tried messing with your settings, maybe you have them set wrong or not optimized. With that motherboard (Realtek ALC892 8 channel) I can't imagine you would make a big difference in quality with hardware upgrades that would not be expensive. Check this out to sell the idea to you.

I own one of these and in my opinion this is the best sound card that has come from Creative yet, the surround gaming audio is superb, and it's music playback as well!

What you linked is like the low end of sound cards, pretty much you get what you pay for, but will be better than your ASRock M/B on board audio and unless you actually use a discrete sound card to hear what you're missing you'll always wonder.
