My Daughter came and turned off my laptop while it was rebooting and now all that appears is a Boot Menu and an App Menu. A message had appeared while it was rebooting to not power off.

I don't know what the reason for the update was, I'm sorry. Its a windows 8. The boot menu gives me 4 options, but when selecting any of them nothing happens. In the App Menu there are a lot of different options but none of them cause any change to the laptop. I don't mind loosing all the files that were contained or anything, but I'd like to be able to use it as normal.

De-powering whilst a pc is configuring windows updates either before or after the required restart is often terminal, and can only be resolved by re installing windows with a compatible version boot disk.
I hope somebody else has a faster solution, but it sounds as though you cant even access the original
start up files. If nobody else has an idea, you will need to buy (or borrow) an install disk without a licence code.

Okay, thank you- do you have any idea where I could buy one of these?
