yea there are very few laptop that allow you to change your gpu. Since they are almost always soldiered onto the motherboard. Like a chip set on a desktop.

Its not as bad as its sounds: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_PCI_Express_Module

But he has an early MXM slot probably which only gives an equal Radeon version as an upgrade or switch, and yes there are reasons to switch to a Radeon. Did so myself, my reason was heat...simple as that.

im not sure getting a new gpu si such a good idea because any thing new and decent will just get bottlenecked by your core 2 duo :(

so you're saying i cannot upgrade my GPU without upgrading my mobo?? :(

Okay upgrading your gpu isn't going to do much since you have an old/weak cpu. This cpu will have less calculations then the gpu and the gpu will be restricted the maximum amount of calculations the cpu can do. This is called a bottleneck.

Now if you want a new moder cpu on a budget your goingto want amd since it is cheaper. Now any modern cpu is going to need a new mobo. Since the socket's wont be compatible with your current cpu.

    Hope this helped :)
  9. Yes! well...kinda! :P
so you're saying, i've to upgrade my CPU before i do anything to my gpu?? im sorry to ask these stupid questions!
I dont know crap bout all this stuff! :(
bear with me! and thank you for answering! :)

That core 2 duo will not bottleneck the gt 630 much and you can have good gaming experience with that setup.
