New GPU, unsure whether to build around it or incorporate it into an old machine.

My specs are as follows:

AMD x4 3.2ghz
AMD 6870
8GB Ram

I am not entirely sure of the Motherboard model as I picked this computer up second hand on a deal.

My question:

I just picked up a Xenon GTX770 4GB. I was either going to build an entirely new computer around it, or stick it inside of the computer I have already, but im not sure which way im better off.

Will I get everything I can out of the card with my current set-up or am I going to run into a bottleneck in the computer elsewhere when trying to crank up graphics?

More about gpu unsure build incorporate machine
  1. new computer, AMD x4 cpu is weak.
  2. for Xeon you ll need another mobo for Intel and may be new RAM

all 2cpu i found with spec x4 3,2GHz(Phenom ii x4 955,Athlon ii x4 740) is on par with FX 4100 or thereabout . So you should encounter bottlenecking , since GTX 770 is a tough video card. Phenom ii x4 955 uses up to 1333MHz.RAM Try CPU Z to see other specs.
  6. Thank you for the replies, I think ill build around the 770 and an i5 4670.
