Good morning. I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx Laptop with AMD Quad-Core A8-3500M 2.4GHz, 6GB DDR3, and running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit. The serial number, if it helps, is: 5CP1273HJ5. I would like to upgrade to 16GB of RAM, but am confused about the CAS Latency. Will it only work with the currently installed CL 11, or will lower numbers work, too? And does anyone have suggestions where it can be purchased at the best (lowest) price? Thank you for your time and help with this.

When i sad : You can have maximum of 16 GB = 2x8GB DDR3, 10600, 1333-MHz
i was based on this info :

Memory Max Maximum supported = 16GB

but is you look on the Service Manual i`v provided you with - page 5

Supports up to 8192 GB of system RAM √ - AMD processor
Supports up to 16384 GB of system RAM √ - Intel processor

Now hwom you gonna...

Hi Nikolay,

I read a post that says that the AMD A8-3500M processor can only run 8GB of RAM, but can't find any other posts that confirm this. Do you know anything about that? Also, the installed memory is running on 1.35v instead of 1.5v. Can the dv6-6135dx run the 1.5v?

8192-MB total system memory (4096×2) - page 6

I would believe on the SM after all !
So correction :
You can have maximum of 8 GB = 2x4GB DDR3, 10600, 1333-MHz

10x for the correction !

As an owner of the same exact model u can run 16gb. I have 16gb ram installed 2x8gb.

you need 1.35volt DDR3 PC3-10600

part number CT102464bf1339m16 is what I have installed runs at a timing of 9-9-9-25. sadly I bought it because is supports higher clock speeds but but hp got this bios locked down toward memory overclocking.

Dude - do you have Intel CPU or AMD CPU - this is verry important :) ?

I have the AMD A8-3500 of course. the DV6-6135dx are all the exact systems all have 640gb hard drive 6gb ram A8-3500 with windows 7. Intel cpus don't have dx but other letters on the end to mark the change in config.

my serial # ############## look it up if u don't believe me

edited to remover serial number

Ok that`s great - then it`s the SM that is misslead and the Web is correct !

P.S. - is not about do i believe you or not - couse if you have Intel CPU the SM also says YES you can have 16GB
So having AMD A8-3500 is great to hear .........
