Hi, I am using a thumb drive that boots a small version of windows to do some handy things like, opens ghost, scans for viruses, password changes, and some other useful things.

I've been able to boot into the thumb drive on many machines (All Dell models, IBM ThinkPad's, Sony VIAO Laptops, ect) but I am having trouble booting into HP desktop machines (Specifically the Z600 and Z620 models). Do these models not allow bootable flash media to work or something? Ive been hammering at it for a couple days now

I used Grub4Dos to make my flash drive bootable. And the media im using to boot is called "toolkit" which is like a Winpx environment I think. Let me know what you guys think! Thanks!

According to HP's website, the Z600 and Z620 have a boot order setting to boot from USB thumb drives. I have an older HP at the office, and I had to have the thumb drive plugged into the machine prior to going into BIOS to set the boot order to the thumb drive - it wasn't auto-scanning like other PCs.

Ya... Ive been trying to select the USB drive from the Boot Menu which is f9 on this HP. And it shows up, like, I can click on the USB option. But it waits there a sec and then the HP starts trying to boot from another source (in this case it just automatically boots to the hard drive). There is on option on the HP bios to enable USB bootable media but its enabled. Just wondering if there was anything else I could try or see why its not booting

Thats actually was I was just trying to do. I think I downloaded one? It doesn't look like it installed successfully. Ive copied the files over to a flash drive hoping to update the BIOS through the BIOS but Im not very skilled in the manner. Any tips?

Ill try messing around with the boot order again. You think this might help even though Im manually selecting the USB drive from the f9 boot menu?

So, it doesn't look like this is going to work by changing any kind of BIOS setting or firmware... I was able to get the computer to boot with a USB thumb drive but it wasn't with the UBCD that I was using previously (A bootable media called ToolKit). I would really like to ether get the ToolKit media to be able to boot maybe using something else besides grub4int. Or, I would like to maybe get a different boot media that has ghost 32 installed on it. Does anyone have any recommendations?
