My PC, which I got in early 2012, worked fine for months until one day, when I booted it up, it went to Automatic Repair. I couldn't do anything with it besides wipe the HDs (one SSD, another regular). I installed Windows 8 on the HDD this time, thinking that maybe the SSD was messed up.

A few days later, the same thing happened again (I believe when I tried to download .NET for a video game). This time I installed Windows 8 to the SSD.

Now, a month or so later, my computer was frozen when I started it up. I can wipe my entire system AGAIN, but does this sound like some other problem? It seems pretty unlikely that I got two duds for HDs. Or maybe it's not a HD problem at all since I did get Windows to work again on each HD once? Thanks for any help.

I should also note that the one thing that seems weird about my computer is that it is really loud. Nothing is rattling though which is why I haven't done anything about that yet.

depending on how windows installed itself. it may have put some of it files on the hard drive. if it did and the hard drive is going bad you can have issues with windows. when you do an install of windows make sure you unplug the other drives so that there left untuched. from a working pc take your hard drive and plug it in and run hd tune see if the drive smart warnings pop up any failures. do the same for the ssd but also make sure the ssd firmware is up to date.
on the pc that has the data issues..check that your ram is seated and run memtest86 from a boot cd or usb stick.
the last issue could be a power supply that outputing to low or too high a voltage. with a volt meter check the dc voltage at the molex pins on the drive power cable.
