So I just made a new computer like six months ago, but it doesn't run as fast as I want it to. I was wondering if anyone can help me and see if a part should be upgraded:

CPU: AMD TA10-5800K 3.8G 4M FM2 R
Motherboard: ASRock FM2A85X EXTREME4 FM2 A85X
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Storage: Blue WD 1T HDD
Video Card: AMD SAPPHIRE RADEON 7770 HD 1G
Power Supply: CORSAIR CX series CX500 500W

With this games like minecraft don't even run at a constant 60fps

Your CPU is not meant for use with a graphics card. It is an APU. It is meant for a LOW end system with no GPU. You need to replace the motherboard and the CPU for better performance. The CPU is holding your back in CPU intensive games like minecraft. You want something like an fx-6300 and an am3+ motherboard.

Your GPU is good enough for most games at medium settings at 60fps with a proper CPU.

Hmmm...7770 should be able to run minecraft at 60fps, actually it should be able to run it at a lot more than 60fps. Just out of curiosity, is your monitor plugged into your mainboard output or your graphics card output? If your are plugged into your mainboard, then you aren't using the 7770.

The internal graphics will be disabled when there is something in the PCI slot so I am fairly confident that he is using it correctly.

if you want to upgrade it would take a decent amount of money because you need to upgrade your motherboard your processor and your graphics i would upgrade to an am3+ motherboard amd fx 6300 and radeon r9 270

Thanks for the fast replies and I know I am using the graphics card correctly. Someone reccomended all of these parts to me, so I guess they didn't try hard enough. Minecraft does get up to even 100fps at times, but usually it's at around 35-50fps, and that's not even at maximum settings.

It is your CPU. It is not mean to be used with a GPU and is very low end. You need to replace the CPU and motherboard. The fx6300 and an AM3+ motherboard are your best bet for a cheap and worthwhile upgrade.

best answer??? what?? you should be able to use onboard or a card your choise.. not saying that the chip is top notch but ... that dont add up.... you can hook up a cheap GPU card and run it in CrossFire multi-GPU mode with the integrated HD 7660D - so says AMD

Not with the 7770 you can't. You need a 7750 or 6770 to be able to do that. Also, it does add up. Minecraft is a VERY CPU intensive game. It can be run with no GPU at all on a decent CPU. his cPU is what is holding him back.

ya i understand that i miss quoted.... but he still should be able to eather run it as is with the on chip or x-fire [yes his card is wrong for that] or his card with the chip w/o on chip graphics... in till i see at amd that that cant be done i'm look just dont see him being limited to not useing his 7770 card at all ,

It is BETTER to use the 7770 ONLY. Crossfire with the integrated GPU would LOWER performance. Simple as that. He CAN NOT run the integrated graphics if the GPU is installed. PLUS he said he is using the GPU for graphics. I don't see what you are trying to say.

Plain and simple, his CPU is too weak for CPU intensive games.

thats right one or the outher not bouth in x- fire ... funny i googled A10-5800K and not one AMD link comes up for me 'so i go to amd and type it in there search and just get ''sorry''[i guess there site is down for me.... but heres what you said

i took it that it would not work at all and he was stuck at just useing the chip so i was saying that cant he turn off the on chip graphics and run the card.. but now if this is an store bought computer likw a acer dell hp. his bios my be locked to were he cant do that card anyway..

No you are just incorrect. i'm sorry. he said he BUILT the computer. NOT bought it. The integrated graphics are DISABLED and he is using the 7770 for graphics. This is ALREADY happening. The integrated graphics are not being used here AT ALL. JUST the 7770.

When you install a GPU, the integrated graphics are disabled. That is how it works.

Atleast upgrade to:
ASUS M5A97 R2.0
AMD FX-6300 3.5GHz
You can upgrade to a more powerful graphics later if you want, I recommend you any Radeon R9 270 (Non-X) graphics card, because Radeon R9 270X is just stupid for the price, you pay more for more heat, more power consumption and only 2-5fps more...

Thanks for trying to help and are you trying to say that the integrated graphics would be better than the 7770 or is this about the cpu? Sorry if I don't understand.

No, the 7770 is MANY times more powerful than the integrated graphics.

the 5800k is a fine CPU, but not for gaming. Minecraft is VERY CPU intensive. This is why you see frame drops on it.

Alright so I am considering getting a new graphics with the motherboard and CPU you recommended, but would that mean I have to upgrade my power supply? Or would it just be fine keeping my current graphics card?

psu will be ok for 7770 but for gpus like 280x gtx 770 you would need a better quality psu xfx 550 seasonic 520w are good choices

Your PSu is fine for a better GPU. Not a problem at all.

Dont replace the GPU or PSU at all right now. ALL you need to worry about is the CPU and motherboard.
