Broken External Hard Drive

My old hard drive was dropped on the ground and stopped working. It completely won't be read by anything I have, though when plugged in, the light to indicate it's connected properly still comes on. I pulled it apart and everything looked fine. The disk was fine, and so was the reading arm. What could be wrong with it?

It's a good, 2TB drive and it has a lot of my stuff on it. Is there any way to save it? And where should I take it to see about getting it fixed?

That's great and all but I'm a 15 year old with a limited supply of money and I certainly don't have the equipment or software to do anything like that myself. I appreciate the answer but it just isn't for me.
  2. and you open it up and look at it in a clean room like environment?
