I want to get some better frames while playing games and live streaming, so I was wondering if I bought another video card if it would help out? I currently have a GeForce GTX 640 4gb edition, and was thinking about adding a GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2 GB without using sli.

More about : video cards sli

Don't do it. You need two cards of the same kind in SLI, otherwise your game will only use one card.

I suggest you replace the GTX 640 with a GTX 770 or whatever you can afford. Make sure your PSU is up to it, it would need to be rated 600W or more.

I don't plan to run sli on them. I was getting the 650 to future replace the 640 to run sli, but would it still be a problem if I didn't use sli?

i would go with the 650ti boost for that price range, if the ati cards prices didnt go back up the 7850 would be a great choice, did manage to get a 7870 for 125 after the rebate which is a super card for that price and much faster, wait for the new years deals and look around for like a 660 or 7870/50 if none come to your price range grab the 650
