Hello,

I recently bought a second monitor to add to my setup.
The problem I have is, that it isnt being detected by windows.

I run my primary monitor (BenQ G2450HM 24") from my GTX 560ti Twin Frozr II.

I want to run my 2nd monitor (BenQ GL2450HM 24") which I will be using for web browsing and movies from my Onboard Graphics (I have tried both HDMI and VGA) but no dice.

My specs are;

i5 2500k
gtx 560ti twin frozr II
8gb corsair vengeance
GA-Z77 D3H

I have tried: Turning Onboard graphics in BIOS from Auto to Enabled.
Starting computer with only onboard graphics connected.

I know it would probably work with 2 monitors plugged into my graphics card but at this time I do not own a DVI cable. So i wanted to use the HDMI from my onboard and the miniHDMI from my graphics card.

Solution
I am sorry to inform you that you cant do this. When you have a gpu in a pcie slot it disables onboard graphics. I am told some of the x79 mobos have workarounds with this but your chipset and most others will not D:

Just grab a dvi for 20-30$ and your all set

Unfortunately you are unable, this is because of you have a dedicated graphics card, it will disable you onboard graphics. You will have to connect the 2nd monitor to your GPU. Your gpu has 2 DVI slots, so connect both monitors with DVI and your all set. :D

I see no intrinsic reason why your two graphics adapters would not work, both at the same time.
That assumes that you have an os capable of multiple graphics drivers. Windows 7, for example.
You could try getting the integrated adapter to work by specifying it as primary and installing the intel integrated drivers, with the discrete card removed.

In the bios, there may be an option such as auto which might allow both adapters to be active at the same time.

Older motherboards did an automatic disable because the os could not support multiple graphics drivers, That is no longer the case.

Additionally, you could check to see if there is a bios update that fixes this.
But... DO NOT try to update the bios unless it will likely fix your issue.
A bad bios update can leave you with a bricked motherboard.

Lastly... It seems like a lot of work when a $5 adapter will let you connect a second monitor.
