Hi All

New here so please bear with me.

I have Vista Service Pack 2 installed, this is on a HP Pavillion DV6000 Intel based system.

I have a problem with a hardware driver for an Intel LAN chip. I have tried doing an uninstall I have tried removing all the driver fragments in the registry I can find, however when trying to reinstall a driver to make the LAN Chip usable it will not install.

In Device Manager it shows under Network Adapters, Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection with a yellow exclamation mark in front.

It also shows under Other devises, Ethernet Controller with a yellow exclamation mark in front.

I have tried doing an uninstall on both of these but both reapear in the same state.

I have tried several different registry cleaners.

I have tried a repair installation.

If trying to use the INTEL install package it reports no intel device found.

Is there any software available to track left over driver fragment or does any one have another suggestions.

Looking forward to any assistance or advise.

Oh a reinstall is out of the question at the moment.

It's not a driver issue as drivers do not need to be removed before you re-install or update them, it should simply install over the top of the existing one.

What's more significant is the error you are getting which says "No Intel Device Found". That indicates two possibilities:

1). You are trying to install the wrong driver.

2) It's the correct driver, but the device itself has has become faulty.

Hi Phillip

First of all that you for replying.

You make a very good point actually, I am assuming I am installing the correct driver because of the data in registry keys. The data in the keys identifies the LAN Adapter as a Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Mobile Connection.

Could you tell me where in the registry is the Hardware Identification stored and where is that obtained from.

As for faulty hardware I do not think so as it was working fine up until the driver update took place and screwed things up.
