My Dad's PC crashed over holiday's. So time for a new one totally. I did a hard drive backup and we ventured off to buy a new one.

With the migration of him on XP to Win 7 x64, all new software was purchased (so yes Microsoft all Legal). Including MS Office 2013.

After setting up his pc, I asked for all the passwords to accounts of his to get things like Outlook setup.

He hadn't got a clue what passwords he uses for what. So time to pull out the master "Password file" on floppy disc and see.

Wouldn't you know it is a MS Word Doc he used to make the password doc.

So I don't know his passwords nore do I care, to find that Microsoft wants me to log into a outlook account to download MS Office 2013 as there is no more DVD install disc (first dumb point. You are hoping people have decent network connection as the download is 2.1GB for offline installer).
So I logged in using a shit account I have (you know, those e-mail accounts were you made it when you were in high school it is so old that there is so much garbage spam and yet it managed to make it this far).

Using the old e-mail account, I had to download the offline installer, burn it to dvd and install. So in goes the disc.

What's this....
No options to choose, no options to pick where I want it installed too (thanks Microsoft).
In 4 min it was fully installed.

Okay, so that I have now a fully installed MS Office 2013 legal copy registered to a shit e-mail account. Thinking that I will be able to log into it later and happily switch it over to my parents e-mail account.
Wait a second, MS doesn't want you using another providers e-mail, it MUST be Microsoft e-mail account. Again... dumb Microsoft.

Did I mention the MS word doc with passwords has yet to be opened???

Need to check for updates, hop on over to Windows Updates (as in Win 7 update location). It comes back "Windows Only" for updates. WTF.

Off to Google...
Google reports, MS Office 2013 automatically checks for updates and installs them. WTF?
Again you're hoping for the person to have a wonderful UNLIMITED data cap internet account.

Yes because everybody has that. Who has the money for true unlimited.
Again dumb microsoft.

I go to open the MS Word document..
Prompted now with "Please enter registration key associated with this product". Uh, Okay. 25 characters later (LEGAL COPY).
Please enter account used to install this from. Wait WHAT!?????
The account I used was some POS e-mail account.

I enter the information it installs and acivates.

I open the password doc and PRINT.

I call Microsoft up and ask them (Did I mention this could COULD be a paid phone call).

To only have them tell me, sorry sir the e-mail account you used is the one now associated with this product.

Are you freakin kidding me. So this garbaged e-mail account I have to keep running and maintained in functioning order just to keep my ONE Office 2013 license valid.
again dumb Microsoft....

Did I mention that Microsoft Word after opening it is attempting to push like 1GB plus patch files, and kill the bandwidth. That there is no "Manual check" for Office updates and manually install them. It is either Enable or disable.

ugh dumb Microsoft...

P.S. this isn't an attack against Microsoft Inc or anything like that. It is my $.02 worth on dealing with Office 2013.
