Is this molex connector broken?

So my friend just got his computer case in and it has a molex connector coming from the front of the case, BUT a pin is missing. It's standard size 4 pin with 3 pins. I looked up a diagram and apparently a ground is missing, as missing pin is in the middle of the outer two pins. Will it still work? I'm hopping he wont have to send it back because he's been dying to build his first PC.

A few of my Molex only have 2 pins in them. Most ones with less than 4 pins connect to fans so you only need 2-3 pins. You would be able to tell if a pin was broken, or missing compared to ones lacking by design.

Well you could do one of three things.
1. Just not use that one molex connector ( what i recommend)
2. use it if you have to and see if it works if it dosent do 3
3. return it during warranty and get a new one

Do you know what the molex is for? It sounds like it is either for a case fan or maybe a fan controller. If it is missing a ground it will work still as it probably only requires one. Most case fans only need the +12V and a ground. More than likely its going to work fine.

Molex has two powers, +12v and +5v and a ground for each so that it can work for either depending on the devices needs.
