I have overclocked my 3770k and have the fans at max which normally doesn't bother me but i wondered what the maximum recommended temps are for an oc'd 3770k to find out whether i would be able to turn down my fans at all.
Thanks

More about : recommended temps 3770k

70-75 is a good limit to set. These are safe temperatures.

Once you hit about 80 C it may be time to take action to find a better cooling solution. Above 85 is too hot.

ok thanks, i got it maxed at about 65 C so i could turn the fans down a bit. do you know whether any noctua fans perform better and/or quieter than the standard fans that come with the h100i?

Thats fine.

The Noctua fans are *said* to be better, but the difference in temps are negligable. (1-2 degrees C)

i have heard that the noctua fans are really quiet, would this be true if i have then on max? if so it still a better option than the standard h100i fans

Oh that is true. The Noctua NFF 12's are very quiet indeed compared to other fans. If noise is a factor, go with the noctua fans. They should be great performers and quiet operators at any speed.
