I am having troubles installing an SSD. I upgraded to a Samsung 840 Pro over xmas, and just got around to installing it today.

I successfully had it up and running and got it to boot to windows. It was working fine, but as I was trying to install drivers from an external USB drive things started to go south. I got a message "failed to load driver" which was for the external USB drive I was trying to access. After that happened it became unresponsive and everything locked up.

So, I re-booted the computer, and for some reason my bios no longer even recognized the SSD was hooked up. It's like it was never hooked up in the 1st place. It's just... gone?

So, I tried re-installing windows, and it won't let me. It says it can't install on partition 1 - labeled "system reserved" or partition 2, which has no label.

I got this error message at one point:

"Setup was unable to create a new system partition or locate an existing partition. See the set-up log files for more information"

I am currently trying the "repair" option from the boot disks, but nothing really appears to be working...

so... what the hell is going on?

ugh... after spending a half hour on the phone we couldn't verify what the problem was. Maybe the drive, maybe something else. We tried re-formatting and reinstalling, but even after the re-format we couldn't get windows to install.

Going to return it and hope it was a faulty drive. It's never easy... is it....
