Looking to get a gaming PC cheap as possible and this board and CPU combo is an option, however when reading around about the FX 8350 I came across this http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/330572-30-970a-warning which from what I can tell states that lower end motherboards can't handle the voltage or something.

So my question is, will I have any problems if I got this combo or would I be wise to upgrade the motherboard ASAP?

Thanks.

While this motherboard "supports" the FX CPU's it is not really advised, especially for the 8 core FX.

It doesn't have good enough VRM's to power the processor despite the heatsink, and what usually happens is the chip will throttle when under full load for any length of time.

I had one briefly set up with a FX6300 and under full load all it used to do is underclock itself or "throttle" to stop the VRM's frying.

With FX chips you can't really skimp with motherboards.

Take a look at a Asus M5A97 R2.0, Asus M5A97 Evo R2.0 or a Gigabyte 970A-UD3P.

According to pc part picker none of those motherboards support SLI configurations, as I'm looking to run a GTX 660 and eventually run another in SLI when the first starts to age.
These so far seem to be my options, would you guys recommend any of the £70 ones? or should I spend more to get a better board?

Or is the entire scenario presented a bad idea?
